About Me

My Photo
DAVID WEIR A Piece of Unconsciousness, Shadows and Light This Body of Work by Weir is all about being in the present moment, allowing your inner soul to be connected with the canvas. Together you become one, freedom to move the medium around, layers and layers of ink build up, other areas are scrapped away allowing the possibility of Serendipity to happen. Weir has complete understanding of his work to know when to stop or to keep on pushing. “When I am painting, there are no boundaries, no limits, it’s all about FEELING.” Weir has a strong use of black, browns, and tonal values. The paintings are bold statements from the inner voice. Some have a tribal rhythm, others strong saturation. Block shapes, transparency, the negative and positive… the world of the ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONIST.

                                                                       Top Painting

did this painting last year and left it .

its good to have plenty of works around the studio

you can feel when the paintings are finished

You can Feel when the painting is giving you something back

The finished Piece   90 x 90 Ink on Linen

I really didn't see this one and was always trying to push it

it had the markings of a good painting

but I needed to go into MODE to fix it

Finished Painting    90 x 90   Ink on Linen

Don't force your markings wait everything Happens when in MODE

  1. The works are all really good.
These transparent layers, it is certainly not easy to say ... it's done. You must be very careful and well considered work, right? Sometimes we need time and distance, to see what comes out in the images. It is good if you put an image away and let it be. But sometimes I can not .. and oh my;) ..then it becomes very difficult.

Your pictures give me back a lot and I can feel it. Thanks David, that you share it with us.

  5. I was just talking with someone about this subject. For me there seems to be a process of excitement and things are going well. Then there is slowing down and a need to be careful time (could screw things up), and then careful finishing. It is all about looking and asking the painting what it wants. I have gone in before and re worked but, that doesn't work for me. the moment seems to be gone. I agree about the respect thing. Everything is informing, learning, contributing to what you will do in the future! Great work David!!!

  6. 'respect the crap' love it, there's plenty of that flying around my studio lately. I like the way you've reworked these, they're all strong and intriguing for me, even the one you thought wasn't working.

  7. I am teaching myself not to paint over everything when I am tired at days end. Leave it til the freshness of a new studio day.
Fabulous work here David. Very unique!

  8. Wonderful post- I agree- live with your paintings for awhile- let them percolate - until you are more objective and see the changes needed.

  9. I love your work David. The colors, the transparency, the surface, the technique. I wondered how you made it.
At the moment I am having a creative block and very little time. Horrible. I hope it will be better soon because there are moments I am very frustrated.
But maybe this is what I need now. A sort of silence.
I admire how hard you work and look forward to every new work you post on your blog.

  10. Thank you all,for your comments
A subject thats worthy of more time for me to write

One of the hardest things for me is to write about my work and process but I'm going to put some more effect into it

If I want people to understand my work I need to write more.

Thank you all again and i enjoy letting artist into my world.

  12. A quick note to say that I love your work and enjoy reading about your process. For me painting is all about the process more than the final product (but that can be enjoyed too :)
